|BOWS FOR ALL INSTRUMENTS|
Although we have always felt that to have a separate Bow Section could be counter-productive, we have been encouraged to present a list of bows generally stocked.
These lists are strictly indicative of the stock, and please, we cannot guarantee that we will always have them all in stock. What we have always suggested, is that if you are wanting to purchase a Bow, firstly try to come and visit us, and try out as many as you like, but if that is not an option, we can always post out bows. You will need to advise us of your price range, and any specific requirements (eg round or octagonal stick), and we will select FOUR and send them for your approval for a period of 10 days.
There is NO OBLIGATION TO PURCHASE, NOR DO WE CHARGE FOR THE SERVICE.
We have of course included a guide to assist you in selecting your bow price range. This really is only for information, and to enable you to budget, you might find that the bow that works for you is much less expensive than you expected. Always be prepared to be surprised!
We also undertake a Bow Repair and Rehair service is offered, please apply for prices.
|CHOOSING THE RIGHT BOW.
Most teachers and retailers agree that the best way to match the performance of a bow to your instrument, is to purchase a bow between 1/3 to 1/4 of the value of the instrument. This is by no means fully comprehensive, as you may wish to consider upgrading your bow beyond the instruments capabilities in order to prepare for an instrument upgrade later. The Table below will give an indication of achievable grade with the various bow price ranges.
Carbon Fibre Bows seem to have reached the pinnacle of their design phase, menaing that Bows from all manufacturers are not being upgraded with new models every few months. This does mean that they now represent a serious alternative to Pernambuco, in that they will not become obsolete, and thus lose value in the same way that they did in the past. We are not holding huge stocks of Carbon Fibre bows, to ensure that we always do have the latest models, and as supply has greatly improved, this does not seem to be presenting a problem.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A ROUGH GUIDE. CHOOSING THE CORRECT BOW FOR YOU IS A PERSONAL PROCESS, BEST ACHIEVED BY VISITING US TO TRY THEM! THE ATTACHED BOW LIST IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE GENERAL STOCK AVAILABLITY, WE ARE UNABLE TO GUARANTEE THAT A SPECIFIC BOW WILL BE AVAILABLE AT A PARTICULAR TIME, ALSO THE TOP END CARBON FIBRE BOWS TEND TO BE BY SPECIAL ORDER.
